Our client is looking for an experienced trader to join their business as a Trading Manager.
You may have been a trader for 5 years or 15 years but if you feel the time is right for a move up to a position where others will look to you to lead, advise and support them, then this is the one for you.
Day to day responsibilities
Manage trading in line with company directives, position limits, budgets and compliance procedures
Contract management, including all aspects of trade and execution administration
Targeting and developing new markets for potential business
Analyse fundamentals in cash and futures markets, identify trading opportunities and be able to
strategise and execute those opportunities, whilst being able to explain rationale and risk/reward
scenarios
Translate supply, demand and market intel to support value chain trading decisions
Manage exposure and risk to counterparties in accordance with the company’s credit policies
Gather and analyze information for weekly and monthly market reports and active participation in
conference calls
Liaise with the Origination team to extend our procurement of commodities from growers
Manage and continue to build our commodity sustainability programs
Liaise with consumers and suppliers to help expand the company’s activities in trading commodities
Liaise with the Operations department to maximise execution opportunities
Strong cooperation with external and internal business stakeholders Ability to organise and plan effectively whilst leading and mentoring junior colleagues
Essential skills
Minimum of three years’ experience in a trading environment
Experience with physical, paper, future markets, hedging, risk and position management
Understanding of the bulk ocean freight market
Ability to demonstrate analytical ability with strong technical skills in trading and good knowledge
of credit management practices
Strong negotiation ability
A solid understanding of sustainability relevant to the agricultural sector
Excellent numerical and analytical skills
Working knowledge of excel and powerpoint
High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and common sense
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
Commercial mindset
Ability to work alone and as part of a team
Good relationship building ability
Educated to (minimum) A level, preferably to degree level or equivalent
Desirable skills
Good knowledge of AIC, FOSFA and GAFTA contract terms
